I Want an Adventure, Too!

05 Aug

I just finished watching the movie Julie & Julia, and I have to say, it was very good. I found it funny and very touching, and to be honest, I really identified with Julie and what she was doing. I’m pretty much in the same boat she was when she first took on the adventure of cooking her way through Julia Child’s book. I’ve got no real direction in life, and I can’t say I’ve been successful at anything I’ve done since high school.

Of course, for me, it’s not as simple as cooking for a year. I really don’t like cooking, though I can’t really tell if it’s because we can’t afford expensive ingredients or if it’s incredibly stressful with three babies to care for at the same time. But, I can’t seem to find anything else I could throw myself into. Being a photographer, I’ve attempted a 365 project, but I just don’t love it enough to be able to spend hours every day doing it. I jsut want to find something I can make an adventure of, learn from, and enjoy doing.

I suppose my best bet is my zero day project – 101 tasks in 1001 days. I started it just a few days ago, but it’s got such a variety of tasks on it, I’m sure I’ll discover something I love [or hate!] You can follow my progress on a special Tumblr blog, if you feel so inclined. But I’ll be spending close to a year doing all sorts of stuff, so maybe I’ll pick something out of that list.

So, I guess that’s my big adventure, to try and find something I just love doing SO much I could do it forever. Until then, well, I’ll just keep doing what I’m doing.

Now, if you’ll excuse me, I’m off to bake what could very well be the best carrot cupcakes EVER.
